Hope UCC Wind Gap, PA
Heart & Hand
The Heart In Hand Quilt Guild meets at Hope UCC the second Thursday evening of the month, September to July. Their mission is to preserve, perpetuate, and encourage all elements of quilting. Membership is open to those interested in learning and improving quilt making skills and is capped at 50 members. They also meet some Saturday's at the church for workshops. Hope UCC provides a wonderful central location for the group to meet.
Guild members are encouraged to make community service items all year long. Currently they make items for local hospitals including drainage bags, pillows and totes for mastectomy patients; preemie blankets, burp clothes, stuffed animals. Guild members also work on a new quilt each year that they use to raise money for a community organization. As a result of this year's quilt, they were able to donate $600 to Turning Point of Lehigh Valley.
On May 2, 2015 members participated in an all-day workshop "College of Continuous Quilting Improvement." The instructor was Helle-May Cheney, Flemington, New Jersey. We worked on improving our quilting techniques and practiced by making blocks for a table runner.
